Volunteer Head Coach, 5th-6th Grade Boys Lacrosse

Sheridan Lacrosse Club is the driving force behind lacrosse in Northern Wyoming, offering affordable, accessible, and competitive programs for youth and high school athletes. Founded in 2022 and building on youth programs that began in 2018, we’ve grown rapidly through a model that removes barriers and welcomes players at every level.
Title: Head Coach, Youth Boys
Position Summary:
This is an unpaid, volunteer position that plays a critical role in the success of our program. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of team management, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development. The Head Coach reports to the Board of Directors and may serve on a board committee as needed.
Responsibilities:

Coaching & Player Development:

Develop and implement a comprehensive practice plan that focuses on fundamental skills, team strategy, and physical conditioning.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of the men's game, including rules, tactics, and player positioning.

Provide constructive feedback and guidance to players to help them improve their individual skills and overall performance.

Foster a positive and fun team culture that emphasizes our 10 core values.

Team Management:

Oversee all team activities, including practices, games, and team events.

Communicate regularly and effectively with players and their families regarding schedules, expectations, and team news.

Manage game-day logistics, including pre-game warm-ups and in-game substitutions.

Administrative & Communication:

Maintain current CPR and USAL certifications throughout the season. Proof of certification will be required.

Communicate major team decisions and developments to the Sheridan Lacrosse Club board in a timely and transparent manner.

Adhere to all league and organizational policies and regulations.

Qualifications:
-
USA Lacrosse (USAL) BRONZE Certification. At Minimum. Must currently be certified or have the ability to obtain it before the start of Spring practice.

CPR Certification: Must be currently CPR certified or by the start of Spring practice.

Knowledge of the Game: A strong understanding of the rules, strategies, and nuances of men’s lacrosse. Previous coaching or playing experience at the high school or collegiate level is highly desirable.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a group of athletes.

Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with players, parents, and board members.

Time Commitment: Availability to commit to the entire spring season, including practices (typically 3-4 days per week) and games (typically on 1-2 days of the week).
